At Barley Jack Art we love variety. Whether we are using a paintbrush, pen, pencil or pyrography stylus, whether collaging or paper quilling, we put the same passion and enthusiasm into every piece of art we create.
Let us explain a little more about Barley Jack Art. The name was inspired by our dogs, daughter Anna’s golden retriever Barley and mum Karen’s cockapoo Jack. Although we often use the same mediums, our styles are as different as our dogs.
Anna has a love of drawing and painting skulls and trees in particular and loves the dramatic colours she can play with using alcohol inks and acrylics, sunsets and moonlight being favourites. She has a wonderful affinity with a pyrography stylus, being able to burn incredibly detailed and textured images into wood but is equally at home on a computer, creating digital art.
Karen gets a lot of her inspiration from nature and particularly the wildlife she sees around the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds where she lives. Watercolour, coloured pencils and pastel pencils are her preferred mediums for nature studies but she has recently enjoyed paper collage and quilling as well. Karen likes to try a wide range of mediums, including mixed media and more recently, acrylic enamel painting on glassware.
We are very happy to personalise our artwork for you, whether that is just adding a name to an existing piece or taking on a commission to create a bespoke work for you.
